TopView Events for OPC A&E Released

TopView Events is a version of TopView Alarm and Notification Software that supports event-based monitoring.  TopView Events is designed to handle multiple Event Generators, such as OPC A&E, through a standard interface.

TopView Events for OPCA&E allows users to monitor, filter, report, and send notification (Email, SMS, TAP, Text-to-speech, Voice callout, …) for events generated from one or more OPC Alarms and Events Servers.

OPC A&E is a standard that allows alarm and event generators to report the details of their events to clients.  An OPC A&E client (TopView) can subscribe to the events without knowledge of the specifics of the underlying alarm generator. Each OPC A&E event contain details such as

  • The type of event
  • The area and source of the event
  • Severity
  • Event message

TopView OPCA&E allows the user to monitor, track, historize, and notify events from any OPC A&E Server including Emerson DeltaV, ICONICS, Kepware, GE Proficy iFIX, Honeywell Experion, Yokogawa Exaopc, Siemens SIMATIC NET, ABB (MicroSCADA SYS600, AC 800M, IRC5, COM600, …), and others

32/64 bit mode operation

In previous version of TopView all applications ran as 32-bit processes regardless of the Windows operating system platform.
In this release some of the TopView applications will run as 32-bit processes on 32-bit operating systems and as 64-bit processes on 64-bit operating systems.

Alarm priority enhancements

In previous versions: each tag/row in TopView has an assigned priority (1-10). A tag/row can define one or more alarm conditions. Each alarm condition inherits the tag/row priority when the alarm condition limit is violated. If a tag/row has multiple alarm conditions (e.g. HI, HIHI, LO, LOLO) each condition would use the same priority assigned to the tag/row.

With this release each alarm condition can optionally define a priority that overrides the tag/row priority. The override priority value is used if the tag/row is in alarm or unacknowledged.

In addition, a new placeholder has been added for alarm priority to allow display of priority in custom messages.

.Net Framework to 4.6.1

The TopView Applications now require the Microsoft .Net Framework 4.6.1. The TopView installation will check for the correct version of the .Net Framework and if not found will prompt the user to install version 4.6.1. Windows XP, 2003, and Vista are no longer supported because the .Net Framework 4.6.1 cannot be installed on Windows XP, Vista, or Server 2003.
